FAMILY EMPOWERMENT COUNCIL

Family Empowerment Council, Inc. (FEC) is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services for individuals with developmental and other disabilities in the Mid-Hudson Valley area of New York. Over 800 consumers are enrolled in one or more of FamilyEmpowerment's eleven programs.

By creating a structured, centralized database to store consumer information, with a front-end that is user friendly, OCEA Group alleviated the headaches of an old paper-based system. Information for a consumer that is applicable to more than one program is entered once, when that consumer is enrolled in the first program. Queries and reports were designed to extract high-level information from the database, saving hours of time and improving how FEC manages its consumers.

A timesheet submittal system was developed for one department that drastically improved how the department handled its billing. An online timesheet form was filled out twice a month (once a pay period) for each consumer, tracking what hours were worked on which days. From there, OCEA Group created a monthly billing report, detailing instructions for what and when to bill, according to some very complicated billing logic.

Today, our intranet solution is a vital aspect of day-to-day
operations, saving time and improving effeciency for the employees of Family Empowerment. And, as we explore new ideas and technologies with them, FEC's software continues to improve!
